Greetings from Crooked Steeple Hall

If you had asked me in January what I was looking forward to this year, I’d have told you that I was looking forward to meeting all the wonderful couples that would get married at Crooked Steeple this year.

I would have told you that I was looking forward to hosting new and returning guests at Pierce House.

I would have told you I was looking forward to hiking and trips to the beach when I could steal a minute from all the bustle of hosting and event planning at Crooked Steeple Hall, and then share those spots with guests.

I would have told you I looked forward to blogging weekly and connecting you to all that’s happening in this beautiful corner of Maine. But alas, there has been no blogging, no weddings and events. On the upside, this has been a year of outdoor adventure for me, exploring new corners of Maine to share with you.

Like most of us, I wouldn’t have dreamt that COVID-19 would have upended our lives this way and for so long. My heart truly goes out to those who have lost loved ones to this dreadful virus. And my deepest wish is that we will soon overcome and the pandemic will be a suspended-animation memory for all of us.

I really miss weddings at Crooked Steeple Hall. 2020 was set to be such an iconic year. I empathize with those precious couples whose dream weddings did not turn into reality this year. I know how disappointing it must be for the couples who have dreamed of their special day for a long time.

As we continue to grapple with COVID-19, and as a responsible corporate citizen, Crooked Steeple will not be accepting new bookings for larger weddings or events until 2022. We are hosting elopements of 20 people or less at our 1812 Pierce House location.

I know, I’m sad too, especially as we inch closer to the holiday season and more couples get engaged. But we really want to do our part to help stop the spread of the virus and keep our clients and our community safe.

That doesn’t mean you can’t experience the magic of Maine in 2021. We continue to accept bookings for lodging at Pierce House and the Crooked Steeple Hall Suite. We take extra special care to ensure that our guests can safely enjoy their stay.

Meanwhile, we’re using this downtime to renovate our properties so that hopefully, when we’re back on track in 2022, our guests can enjoy an even more amazing experience with us.

I can’t wait to share everything with you when the renovations are complete. Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook, from time to time I will share some renovation sneak peeks and videos what we are working on. We’ll also keep you updated here on the blog and through our newsletter, so subscribe if you haven’t already.

Coming Soon

Speaking of sneak peeks, we will soon be featuring some special couples who are getting married at the Crooked Steeple Hall in 2022 and beyond and their love stories.

Join our newsletter and stay tuned. The best is yet to come!

AMAZING PLACE TO STAY!

Amazing place to stay- cozy, comfortable and felt like a home away from home. Explored Winterport through a couple of walks and enjoyed some of the local stores. Thank you Armanda for the restaurant recommendations and Katrina and JoAnn for the beautiful relaxing stay.

A great stay in Winterport!

We chose Katrina’s Air BnB as a halfway stop for us as we were driving up to Acadia. Her place provided everything we needed for the night. We had some trouble with most takeout places and restaurants being closed or having early hours due to COVID so we took a drive to Bangor since it was the closest place that had food available after 7pm. In hindsight, Katrina’s place had plenty of kitchen utensils and appliances that we could have easily made our own dinner at the Air BnB. Overall, a great stay in Winterport!

Great location!

Great location because you are a quick drive to hikes, farm stands, shops and restaurant options but Winterport itself feels very tucked away. You have a winery/brewery, 2 restaurants and a gas station that has decent pizza hahhaha what more could you ever ask for! It was GREAT! Would stay here again in a heartbeat. They are great hosts who do the little things to make you feel welcome!

Lovely Place! I'd definitely stay again!

Katrina's home is her personal home. She and her 3 kids live there. The spaces are large and well appointed. She even let me bake a cake in her well appointed kitchen. I had a private 1/2 bath and 3 bedrooms! I shared the shower with Katrina and her kids. Worked perfectly! She also has a private suite downstairs with a full bathroom (believe it's shower only). I'd definitely stay again!

Cute Cozy place!

We loved this place! It’s really cute and cozy inside and has everything you would need to be comfortable in a new place. It was a perfect palace to stay during for our Acadia trip! Thanks again!

Couldn't be a more perfect place to stay!

We are sad that it is our last day, but already reliving the memories made on this trip! The views were unbelievable and Winterport couldn’t be a more perfect place to stay! We love the place and can’t wait to come back next time and see the progress on the wedding venue in church. Such a great idea!

super cute place! will highly recommend!

Katrina is absolutely one of the best hosts out there! Her listing is super cute and she had every amenity you could need. Highly recommend that you stay at this place if you’re visiting the area. If you’re planning on going to Acadia National Park, this place is a little far away (~1 hour drive) so keep that in mind. We didn’t mind the drive but it can get tiring after a while. Otherwise there is no reason not to stay here. Highly recommend to everyone.
