5 Fantastic Reasons for a Fall Wedding in Maine

Still thinking about a date for your wedding? Spring and Summer weddings have been popular for decades but today on the blog we’re making a plug for a cosy fall wedding.

Beautiful Foliage

Autumn in Maine is a beautiful blend of hues of gold, red, orange, yellow and brown foliage. It’s breathtaking and the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos. Awesome photo-ops exist virtually everywhere. Oh, the photos you’ll take. Close your eyes and let your imagination run wild.

The lawn of the Union Meeting House, located just across the street from Crooked Steeple, with its beautiful trees looks amazing this time of year. Other great photoshoot options include Blueberry Hill, Mount Waldo and Treat Point in Frankfort.

Great weather

By September, the heat and humidity of summer are gone but the weather is still lovely and you don’t have to deal with the mosquitoes. Sounds pretty ideal to me.

Plus fall also tends to be less rainy than spring or summer so you have one less contingency about which to worry.

One caveat. Although the days are warm, the evenings can get quite chilly so you’d want to consider that in case you’re planning an outdoor wedding.

Have Fun with Fall Foods

The foods of fall are so warm and comforting and delicious. Some fun ideas are a harvest-themed meal, an apple cider donut wall or a flavours-of-fall pie bar. You can also swap champagne and opt to toast with hot cider or mulled wine.

No competition

You won’t be competing with your guests’ summer, Christmas or even Thanksgiving plans if you plan your wedding earlier in the season.

Easier on your budget (Maybe*)

Because peak wedding season falls in Spring and Summer, you’re more likely to score a deal from vendors during the fall off-season or shoulder season. That’s money you can put towards your honeymoon or home decor or even a downpayment for a new home.

We must admit that these savings may not be as great, as fall weddings have been increasing in popularity in recent years. Some even say Fall is the new Spring/Summer for weddings, especially in Maine. This means that you should still make your bookings early to ensure you get exactly what you want.

P.S. Crooked Steeple Hall still has dates open for weddings in Fall 2022. Let’s chat. We’d love to help you bring your wedding vision to life at our beautiful venue.
